Back to Work

After some time off work, I started my new job today. It was a pretty crazy day. They’ve had a month to figure out what they were going to dump on me, and they told me everything today. I think I forgot more than I remembered due to the volume of information I got today. But everyone there seems really nice and pretty smart too. The first thing they handed me was Sam’s Teach Yourself Windows 2000 Server in 24 Hours. I guess that means I’ll be the IT guy.

I learned something during my time off. Working from home takes discipline that I don’t yet have. I had a list of about 25 things that I wanted to get done and I completed about five of them. There was a lot of football on t.v. which is demotivator for me to do anything else. I don’t doubt that I could develop the skills necessary to work from home, but it wouldn’t be as easy as I assumed.

I look forward to learning some new things about circuit boards, data buses, and various other words that sound like a foreign language to me. I also look forward to opening Excel more than once per week so I can resume posting to this blog on a regular basis. Well, at least as regular as I was six months ago. Thanks to everyone for reading over the past year and here’s to a great 2006.

  1. Hey, You have never stated what is your new job? What you will be working on and what industry you are in? If you think the above questions are none of anybody’s business or you are not comfortable discussing, then by all means, just ignore the question or just give every1 here the big bird.
