The North economies were more advanced than the South. As many people know there were slaves but in the South the slaves had to hand pick the cotton from the field and handpick out the seeds from the cotton which is slow. On the contrary, the North had machines so that when the slaves handpicked the cotton the machines would pick the seeds out which will be more sufficient and that the process would take out most of the seeds.
